ST. THOMAS - News Carrier delivered unexpected results, and the lady, GoodEveningOfficer, dressed in camouflage to win the day's marquee race.

GoodEveningOfficer on Sunday easily won the third and final leg of the St. Thomas-St. John Horsemen Association V.I. Triple Tiara at the Clinton E. Phillips Racetrack.

There was no stopping St. Thomas' GoodEveningOfficer during the one mile-70 yard run, which was open to both mares and fillies. She won by a wide margin over St. Croix's Destiny's Arrival and Gona Gongui. Lea the Punisher of St. Croix scratched.

The majority of the $8,000 purse for the fifth and biggest race of the day went to A-Team Stable. GoodEveningOfficer, ridden by Eriluis Vaz, is trained by Rasharn Creque.

Phipps hosted six races during the occasionally overcast day, and just as the trophy was being presented for the winner of the sixth and final race the sky opened up, sending fans in search of cover.

Jockey Christian Santiago Reyes had a big day, winning aboard Weir's Gap in the horse's debut. Reyes also led Khun Dan and News Carrier to wins in the fourth and sixth races, respectively.

The Triple Tiara wraps up the St. Thomas horse racing season for 2012. The next local event will not be held until January.

Horses, jockeys, owners and their trainers will be heading to both St. Croix and Tortola for Boxing Day events.
