Kean High girls may just need another boost

ST. THOMAS - Practicing without junior Akia Frett on Tuesday may have been a good thing for the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School varsity girls basketball team.

Frett, who had another obligation, is the team's best player. She has a well-proven ability to score at will, and her passing is so crafty that her teammates often are a step or two behind the perfect deliveries. Frett's no-look passes have caught players off guard, resembling the ahead-of-his-time court vision of "Pistol" Pete Maravich in the late 1960s and early '70s.
