Kean High hoops teams sweep double dip with Antilles

ST. THOMAS - Akia Frett scored a game-high 37 points for the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School Lady Rays as they cruised to victory over the Antilles Lady Hurricanes in an IAA varsity girls basketball game Thursday at Antilles School's Marin Center.
Kean outscored Antilles, 22-6, in the first quarter and led, 35-14 at halftime.
Taria Southwell added 12 points for the Lady Rays, followed by Ashanna Smith with eight points. Sha'Quana Foy led Antilles with 27 points, and Gabby Spencely added eight points.
On Wednesday, Southwell led the Lady Rays with 12 points, while Frett and Aniqua Bell each added nine as they cruised to a 49-15 win over Gifft Hill. Gifft Hill's V. David led the team with 11 points.
In the varsity boys matchup on Thursday, the Kean High Devil Rays held a 27-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised the rest of the way for a 60-25 win. Stephaun Adams was Kean's top scorer with 10 points, followed by Akiyo Neille with nine as the Devil Rays displayed a balanced attack with everyone on the team scoring.
Eli James led the Hurricanes with seven points.
