Warrell's Waterway Wellness Walk

ST. THOMAS - Warrell's Waterway Wellness' Walk for Life will take place at 7 a.m. on Feb. 4 from Warrell's Waterway in Mafolie to Magens Bay Beach. Participants may walk with their pets, their children, alone or in a group. Transportation back to Mafolie from Magens Bay will be provided.

Elrod Hendricks West meeting

ST. THOMAS - The Elrod Hendricks West will hold its 2012 general meeting at 6 p.m. today at Emile Griffith Ballpark for all parents, coaches, players, board members and interested persons of the league. This general meeting is for all league levels: Pee Wee (6-8), Little League (9-12), Senior League (13-14) and Big League (16-18). For more information, call Neville Amey at 513-4343.

Elrod Hendricks West Little League opener

ST. THOMAS - The Elrod Hendricks West Little League will open the 2012 Little League season at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Emile Griffith Ballpark. There will be an opening ceremony, followed by four games: Marlins vs. Twins at 10:30 a.m., Pirates vs. Rebels at 12:45 p.m., Jr. Fire vs. Achievers at 3:15 p.m. and Storm vs. Archers at 5:30 p.m.

There is still space available on the Griffith Park Massive's Royals team. The official opening ceremony and parade will be Feb. 25 at the Alvin McBean Complex. For more information, call Neville Amey at 513-4343.

Cricket meeting

ST. THOMAS - The Twin City Cricket Association, a non-profit organization, will hold it's 2012 annual general meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Galloways' (upstairs). Each cricket club is encouraged to have your representative participate. For more information, call 277-8308.

Basketball Officials Association meeting

ST. CROIX - The USVI Basketball Federation will host a meeting for the membership of the St. Croix Basketball Officials Association at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Claude O. Markoe School. The meeting will address issues and concerns of the federation, in addition to updating the membership on recent mandates and developments in the international basketball world. Soccer clinics

The USVI Soccer Association is conducting free soccer clinics on St. Croix and St. Thomas that are open to boys and girls ages 5-13. The clinics take place from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at Good Hope School and Educational Complex on St. Croix and at the University of the Virgin Islands soccer field on St. Thomas.

STAR Women's Jogger Jam

ST. THOMAS - The 30th annual Women's Jogger Jam will be held Jan. 29 at 4:30 p.m. in front of The Fruit Bowl at Wheatley Shopping Center. Traditionally, this race has drawn one of the largest fields of participants of any of the St. Thomas Association of Roadrunners' events. For most of its existence, the all-women race has been sponsored by The Fruit Bowl, which will donate $10.00 per registered runner to benefit the Family Resource Center.

Awards will be given to the top three finishers in nine age categories. In addition, a team challenge trophy will be awarded to the group or organization with the most participants. Participants may walk, jog or run and the first 300 registered finishers will receive t-shirts.

Registration is $3 for youth 18 and under, $6 for adults and $5 for adults who are STAR members. Early registration will take place up through Jan. 28 at The Fruit Bowl during business hours or at The Caribbean Surf Co. in Havensight Mall, Royal Dane Mall or the Red Hook Shopping Center. Tortola Surf Classic

TORTOLA - The Second annual Tortola Surf Classic, organized by Island Surf And Sail and sponsored by BILLABONG, is allowing Using Sport For Social Change to hold the Second annual Essay Contest for local U.S. Virgin Island youth surfers 8-17 years of age.

The essay contest, in conjunction with the St. John Community Foundation, will allow up to 10 USVI youth from the St. Thomas and St. John area to be selected from the essay contest entries, and those youth will win travel expenses to Tortola to compete in the surf contest. For each contest winner and one adult chaperone over 18 years of age of their choice, this will include passage to and from the event, all customs fees, entry for all youth to compete in the Tortola Surf Classic, and lunch and beverages for all contest winners and their chaperone. Valid passports for each person is the responsibility of the participating parties.

The essay topic is, 'How has surfing inspired you to make a positive difference in your life as well as in those around you?" Entrees must be received via U.S. mail or email sent to the following address no later than Jan. 31.

Skimboarding Lessons

ST. THOMAS - Skimcaribbean is hosting a Skim Camp at Morningstar Beach from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturdays and noon until 4 p.m. on Sundays. All skill levels welcome, ages 7 and up. Cost is $50 per rider per session.

Healthy snacks and ice water will be provided. Riders should bring sunscreen, a swimshirt, a re-useable water bottle and a sack lunch. Skimboards will be provided upon request.
