Adult tennis camps

ST. CROIX - Tennis pros Don deWilde and Greg James will run two eight-hour weekend adult tennis camps at Buccaneer Hotel. The camps will involve instruction, new drills and some cardio. The cost is $120 per person and payment reserves a spot.

The first camp is this weekend from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and is for beginners and intermediates. The second camp is the weekend of July 27-29 and is for intermediates and advanced players. It will also follow the same schedule as the first camp. For more information, call 718-3036.

Youth tackle football camp

ST. THOMAS - There will be pre-registration for the Youth 10-14 Tackle Football Camp at the Charlotte Amalie High School gym from 9 a.m. to noon today. For more information, call coach Jarvis at 514-5197.

Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament

ST. THOMAS - The Northside Sportfishing Club's annual Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament is set for Sunday at Hull Bay Hideaway. More than 300 anglers - men, women, boys and girls of all skill levels - are expected to enter. Entry fees are $40 for adults and $25 for juniors ages 8 to 16.

Cash prizes include $2,000 for the Largest Kingfish; $1,000 for Best Boat; $1,000 for Best Captain; $500 for Best Male Angler; $500 for Best Female Angler; $250 for Best Junior Male Angler; $250 for Best Female Junior Angler; and $375 each in prizes for anglers catching the Largest Jack, Largest Barracuda, Largest Bonito and Largest Mackerel.

Entry forms can be obtained from Neptune Fishing Supplies. Late registration will be held from noon until 7 p.m. today. Fishing takes place 5:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday. Stand-up paddle board races

ST. THOMAS - Stand-up paddlers, canoes and kayaks will race around Triangle Reef off the beach at Bluebeard's Beach Club in Frenchman's Reef from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Participants can choose between a 1 or 2-mile loop, and there is a $20 entry fee. All proceeds will benefit the St. Thomas Swimming Association.

Volunteer kayakers will be in the water to provide assistance and more volunteers are welcome. There will be a cash bar and food will be available. Ther will also be live music from noon to 3 p.m. For more information, call Liz Davis at 690-0695.

FIFA coaching course

ST. THOMAS - The USVI Soccer Association will host a FIFA Members Association coaching course through Tuesday at the USVISA office at No. 32 Norre Gade. FIFA Course Instructor Gary Stempel, from Panama, will lead the course. Stempel was the coach of the Panama national soccer team during its win at the Central American Nations Cup in 2009.

Participants will learn the most effective coaching techniques and skills to ensure a successful team. There is room for 25 participants total to attend this course. Anyone willing to participate and volunteer to the USVI Soccer Association is invited to attend. Beach wrestling

Summer Skimboarding camps

ST. THOMAS - SkimCaribbean Skim Camps are now open for registration as the 5-day sessions have already started and will be held throughout the summer. All skill levels are welcome as freelance skimboard instructors will be on hand Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at Morningstar Beach. Private and small group lessons are also available.

Women's soccer practices

ST. THOMAS - The USVI Soccer Association will hold women's soccer practices at the University of the Virgin Islands starting 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The practices will be held Monday through Thursday through the summer and will be run by Izler Browne. The practices are open to all who are willing to come and learn.

Taekwondo classes

USVI boys under-17 soccer tryouts

The U.S. Virgin Islands boys under-17 soccer team is holding tryouts on St. Thomas and St. Croix. Training sessions will be conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. On St. Croix, the sessions will be held at Freewill Baptist School, and on St. Thomas, they will be at Addelita Cancryn Junior High.

Tryouts are open for boys born on or after Jan. 1, 1996 and possess a valid U.S. Passport. The USVI boys under-17 team will be in competition from July 3-10 in St. Kitts and Nevis. For more information, call 719-9707 or email at usvisoccer@gmail.com.

Boys Under-15 soccer tryouts

The U.S. Virgin Islands Soccer Association will hold tryouts for the USVI Under-15 boys soccer team. Training sessions will be conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. at Free Will Baptist School on St. Croix, and at the University of the Virgin Islands soccer field on St. Thomas. Tryouts are open for boys born on or after Jan. 1, 1997, and possess a valid U.S. passport. The team will participate in competition from July 20-27.

Soccer clinics

The USVI Soccer Association is conducting free soccer clinics on St. Croix and St. Thomas that are open to boys and girls ages 5-13. The clinics take place from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at Good Hope School and Educational Complex on St. Croix and at the University of the Virgin Islands soccer field on St. Thomas.
