Kean vs. CAHS on radio
The varsity basketball clash between the boys and girls teams from Charlotte Amalie High School and Ivanna Eudoara Kean High School will be broadcast on WVWI-AM radio 1000 at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Log on to http://www.amg.vi/ to listen.
Plaskett West Little League start
ST. CROIX - The Elmo Plaskett West Little League's 4-12 baseball divisions will begin play on Feb. 23. The traditional season opening parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Queen Mary Highway Intersection at Route 70 and Route 63 and continue to Renholdt Jackson Sports Complex in Estate Whim. The parade's grand marshal will be Renholdt Jackson Jr. A brief ceremony and three games will be played after the parade.
The league is supported by Penntium Technical Training, St. Croix Renaissance Group, LLC, Choice Wireless, McDonald's, and ScotiaBank. There will be music, fun activities, as well as food and drinks on sale. For details, contact Kevin A. Williams Sr. at 244-5910 or email to: kevign@gmail.com.
Beach wrestling
ST. THOMAS - The V.I. Wrestling Federation invites the public to beach wrestling at Brewers Bay beach on the first and third Sunday of every month at 3 p.m. For more information, call Shamsie at 690-8632.
Soccer clinics
The USVI Soccer Association is conducting free soccer clinics on St. Croix and St. Thomas that are open to boys and girls ages 5-13. The clinics take place from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday at Good Hope School and Educational Complex on St. Croix and at the University of the Virgin Islands soccer field on St. Thomas.
Players are encouraged to bring shin guards, cleats and water. Balls and nets will be provided.

Rugby practice
ST. THOMAS - The USVI Rugby Football Union practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from 6 to 8 p.m. at Charlotte Amalie High School. Veterans, novices and first-time players are all welcome to participate.
The group is training for upcoming scrimmages with the BVI and other down-island teams.
Ladies golf clinics
ST. THOMAS - Mahogany Run Golf Course is offering ladies golf lessons every Saturday starting this week from 9 to 10 a.m. Bring a friend and learn to play golf. For more information or to sign up, call Veronica at the Golf Shop at 777-6006 ext. 1.
Youth tennis program
ST. THOMAS - The USTA Quick Start 10-and-under Youth Tennis Program will be held Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon at Doris E. Hodge Tennis Courts in Sub Base.
The program is open to children between the ages of 5-10.

V.I. Open Tennis Tournament
ST. THOMAS - The Choice Wireless V.I. Open Tennis Tournament is set for Friday and Saturday at The St. Thomas Yacht Club, Sugar Bay Beach Resort and Spa, and Anchorage Condominiums. The event is the only V.I. tournament sanctioned by the U.S. Tennis Association's Caribbean District.
The tournament includes Open Divisions for men NTRP ranking 4.5 and above in singles and doubles. The B Division, for men and women NTRP ranked 4.0 and below, includes singles, doubles and mixed doubles play, as well as men's Over-60 doubles. Play will be best of three sets for all divisions.
The deadline to register is 5 p.m. today. Registration forms can be downloaded at styc.net. The entry fee of $45 per person for one event or $60 per person for two events includes an event T-shirt, souvenirs and a welcome buffet dinner at St. Thomas Yacht Club.

Taekwondo classes
ST. JOHN - There will be taekwondo classes at St. Ursula's Anglican Church Multipurpose Center from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students ages six to adult are welcome.
Free tennis instruction
ST. JOHN - The first 10-and-under Tennis Play Day was held in September at the Cruz Bay tennis courts and because of the event's success, free tennis instruction will now be offered Fridays from 3-6 p.m. and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. For more information, call Pat Harley at 776-6643.
