Maduro, Ambassadors battle back in Vialet Softball League title series

Alfred Maduro clubbed four hits in four plate appearances as the Ambassadors scored twice in the fifth inning, which made all the difference in their 12-10 victory over the Movements in a Susthens Vialet Men's and Women's Modified-pitch Softball League championship series game on Sunday.

The Ambassadors had to forfeit two games the previous weekend, so the Movements still hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Another doubleheader will be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Emile Griffith Ballpark.

Elrod Hendricks went 2-for-2 for the Ambassadors, while Juan Santiago added two hits. Frankie Sewer was the winning pitcher.

Ramil Bahul and Gary Smith finished with three hits apiece to pace the Movements and Glenn Francis added two hits.

Gene Cerge AA Baseball League

Causton Merchant was the winning pitcher and blasted a 3-run home run in the sixth inning to lift the Lions to a 15-5 victory over the Vets in a Gene Cerge AA Baseball League game at Lionel Roberts Stadium on Sunday.

Samuel Santiago had two hits in three plate appearances for the Lions, while Andres Runuez added a hit. The Lions had six hits compared to nine from the Vets.

Kareem Henley and Levron Sarauw combined for four hits to lead the Vets while Kyle LaMotta and Akito Amaro added a hit apiece.

Da Vybes 16, Falcons 7

Athneil Thomas Sr. went 3-for-3 to pace Da Vybes in their win over the Falcons on Saturday. Steven Leblanc and Patrick Smith Jr. had two hits apiece for Da Vybes, while Shaquan Webster was the winning pitcher. Kemo Simeon had two hits in three plate appearances to lead the Falcons.

Lions 10, Falcons 3

Malik Todman and Samuel Santiago finished with two hits each to spark the Lions in their victory over the Falcons on Friday. Dante Huntt added a hit for the Lions who threw Dwayne Huntt. Vernon Jones had two hits to pace the Falcons, who finished with five hits as a team.

Vets 10, Lions 4

Levron Sarauw had three hits in five plate appearances, and also pitched the Vets to a win over the Lions last week. Trey Ward finished with two hits for the Vets. Julian Johnson went 3-for-3 for the Lions and Jared Hanley added three hits.

Bob Owens Slow-pitch Softball League

Davis Samuel clubbed three home runs to lead Set It Off to a 20-9 victory over the Coolers in a Bob Owens Slow-pitch Softball League game on Monday.

Juan Santana and Toni Piguero combined for three home runs for Set It Off, while Julio Camona was the winning pitcher.

Spencer Hendrickson went 2-for-3 and went yard for the Coolers. Dwayne Harvey and Thomas Corcino combined for four hits.

Anchor Drive 19, Cartel 10

Luis Colon, Tafari Carter and David Wiz each had three hits to pace the offensive attack for Anchor Drive in its win over the Cartel on Monday. Edwin Sankitts was the winning pitcher. Anthon Cannonier went 4-for-4 with two home runs for the Cartel and Dexter Skepple also went yard.

Hummers 9, Enforcers 3

Dushane had two home runs in three plate appearances to lift the Hummers to a win over the Enforcers on Monday. Neal Davis had two hits, Kai Schjang hit a home run and Roy Vialet was the winning pitcher for the Hummers. Brandon Rausch, Dave Wentz and Max Soto finished with two hits apiece for the Enforcers.

Set It Off 12, Softball Inc. 11

Juan Santana blasted two home runs and finished with five RBIs to lead Set It Off to a tight victory over Softball Inc. on Thursday. Alberto Medina hit two home runs for Set It Off and Samuel Davis went 2-for-3. Anthony Cruz hit two home runs and Dwayne Nesbitt went 3-for-4 for Softball Inc.

Enforcers 1, Anchor Drive 0

Steve Nisky won a pitcher's duel over Edwin Sankitts as the Enforcers edged Anchor Drive on Thursday. Max Soto had two hits for the Enforcers, while Jeff Elvins and Ian Lundgrem each had a hit. Mario Simmonds went 2-for-3 to pace Anchor Drive.

Elmo Plaskett East Little League Baseball

Julio Carmona was the winning pitcher and added two hits on offense to lead the Reds to a 11-10 victory over the Blazers in the season-opening 10-12 division Elmo Plaskett East Little League Baseball game on Saturday.

Luis Vierra had two hits in three plate appearances for the Reds, while Paul Rojas went 2-for-3 to pace the Blazers.

Dodgers 10, Angels 0

Aldemar Santos pitched a no-hitter to lift the Dodgers over the Angels in a 10-12 division game on Saturday. Santos and Diante Brooks each went 3-for-3 to lead the Dodgers' offense.

Lil Yankees 11, Reds 1

Chad Molloy and Azari Miller each had a hit in the Lil Yankees' victory over the Reds in a 7-9 division game Saturday. Taj Bates was the winning pitcher. James Herrera registered a hit for the Reds.

Angels 19, Reds 1

Nathan Cotto was the winning pitcher for the Angels as they rolled past the Reds in a 7-9 division game on Saturday. Cotto also had two hits in three plate appearances for the Angels.

St. Thomas Region Men's Soccer League

Brian Charlery netted a hat trick to lead the New Vibes to a 5-4 comeback victory in the third round of the USVI Soccer Association St. Thomas Region's League at the University of Virgin Islands on Sunday.

Laraza's Roberto Machado converted a penalty kick in the 20th minute to give his team the early lead, and then Charlery score the equalizer five minutes later. Both teams matched goals in the first half, which ended with a 3-3 halftime score as Laraza's Dale Richards scored twice, while Charlery and Marlon Wilton scored one each.

In the second half, Idris Brice of the New Vibes started the scoring before Richards, who finished with a hat trick, quickly equalized for the Laraza. In the 58th minute, Charlery scored the winning goal to move his team into second place with 15 points.

Togetherness 1, Raymix 1

Kurt Duncan scored a header goal to help Togetherness rally and earn a draw with Raymix on Thursday. After Trevor Wrensford of Raymix went down with a injury, Mackendrick Bernard scored on a free kick to put his team ahead, 1-0. The teams played scoreless in the second half.

Laraza 2, UWS 1

Rigoberto Mega scored for Laraza and then an own goal in the second half decided the match as Laraza walked away with a win over UWS last Tuesday. Just before halftime, UWS' Urias Popo netted the equalizer. Dwight Ferguson, Shawn Daniel and Popo of the UWS were red carded, and Laraza's Howie Williams was also sent off.

League action will resume Thursday when Togetherness meets the New Vibes at Lionel Roberts Stadium at 7:15 p.m.

St. Thomas Under-15 Soccer League

Jefferson Georges scored in the final minute of the game to lift the Raza Juniors to a 1-0 victory over the Young Vibes in a USVI Soccer Association St. Thomas Under-15 League match at Frydenhoj Ballpark on Saturday. It was the Raza Juniors' first goal and first win of the season.

United 4, Remix 3

John Victor scored twice to lead the United past previously-unbeaten Remix on Saturday. Josue Joachim and Briault Atomatem each found the net for the United. Freddy Dinang, Donison Derzantel and Metcheley Fevrius scored for Remix.

United and Remix share the top spot in the league standings with nine points each. Raza Juniors are third with four points and the Young Vibes have one point.
