Paradise Jam 2013 field set

ST. THOMAS - Two Atlantic Coast Conference teams highlight the men's and women's fields for the 2013 Paradise Jam basketball tournament.

The University of Maryland men's team and the Duke University women's team are two of the 16 schools listed on the event's website.

The men's field also includes Marist College of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Morgan State University in Baltimore; LaSalle University in Philadelphia; Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles; the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa; Providence College in Providence, R.I.; and Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

The women's field includes Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich; the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan.; University of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn; Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y.; Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas; the University of Texas in Austin, Texas; and Xavier University in Cincinnati.

The Duke women's team is ranked fourth in the AP Top-25 Poll. Texas A&M is No. 16, and Kansas is receiving votes. Three women's teams from the 2012 tournament are also ranked in the poll with the University of Connecticut at No. 3, Purdue University at No. 15 and the University of South Carolina at No. 18.

No team in this year's men's field is ranked. The University of New Mexico, which won the 2012 men's tournament, is ranked 15th.

Paradise Jam will take place Nov. 22-25 for the men and Nov. 28-30 for the women at the University of the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center. The brackets and first-round pairings have not been set.
