Slevin, Carse highlight feature race Sunday on St. Croix

Slevin and Carse will both look to once again flex their muscle this Sunday as they will compete in the featured race of a 10-race card on Sunday at Randall "Doc" James Racetrack.
Slevin, the winner of the Memorial Day Classic earlier this year, will go up against former V.I. champ Carse, who will also be looking for another win after cruising to victory less than a month ago on St. Croix.
Joining both horses in this 7½-furlong contest worth $7,000 will be St. Thomas' Twisted Dream, who won his debut on July 8 on St. Croix, and Expect Smoke, who will be looking for his first win since the Easter Sunday Races. Rounding out the field are Bambi Bound and Congo, who will be making their debuts.
The first race of the day starts at 1 p.m. and features seven horses competing over five furlongs for $4,700. King Yabo and Hilary Boss will go at it again with Mama Linda, Fast Return, Polo Matches and newcomers Flavaz and A Smile at the Storm rounding out the field.
Race 2 is also worth $4,700 and will be raced over six furlongs. The field consists of Shamrock Classic, Spitfire Red. Rey de los Ricos, I Confess, Robadorable, and newcomer Myturntorock.
St. Croix mainstays Big Thunder Reflec and Neerly Nasty are part of a 10-horse field in Race 3, which will cover six furlongs and pay out $5,500. Separate Bill, A Bit of Madness, BL's Who's Who, Stop Play'n, Mr. Ricochet, Winning Actor are also a part of the field, while Joyful Minister and Simon Sez Run will be making their debuts.
Race 4 will be an Open V.I. bred race over six furlongs worth $5,800, and will feature four horses. St. Thomas' Master Deposit earned a victory at the Carnival Races in April, and Cruzan Emerald will look for his second straight win after getting a victory in the July 22 races. Express to Cali and Creation Rebel will seek wins after several second and third-place finishes.
Paul's Gift looks to get his first win since January in Race 5, which is worth $5,400 and will cover seven furlongs. He will be joined by Apron Dance, Devil's Revenge, Lost Explorer, Cherokee Neesh, Dream Appeal and Dona Gongui.
Race 6 is seven furlongs long and will have San Viron and St. Thomas' What's Poppin' looking for their second wins of the year while facing of against Full House Project, Johann Slew, Going Blue, Thanks McGivern, Heats on Fire and Black Machine. The purse is $5,700.
The 7½-furlong, $6,300 Race 7, Goodeveningofficer will face off against Destiny's Arrival, who won at the Father's Day races, along with Watch Your Back, Rasta Queen, Dance Mistress, Quilla and newcomer Holy Barbara.
A star-studded field of Blackjack Bob, Political Reporter, Beantown and Green Sand will welcome newcomer Mr. Unitas to V.I. racing in Race No. 7, which will cover seven furlongs and dole out $6,300. Drink at Last Call rounds out the six-horse field.
The 10th and last race will feature Miss Kosi, Omayra's Pride, Diamond Colony, Yahboribo's Weapon and Tru Gold battling it out over six furlongs for $5,400.
