ST. CROIX - The 2012 Agricultural Fair Track Meet was held Saturday at St. Croix Educational Complex, and the top high school and middle school track athletes from the territory competed.

The one-day meet included the 400-meter and 800-meter runs, along with the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay and sprint medley relay. The event was sponsored by the Frederiksted USVI Lions Club.

"It was a good meet, and we had great turnout," said Central High School track coach George Clark, who was the meet director. "The competition was stiff. Going into final race, anyone could have won. It was very close."

The Charlotte Amalie High School and Kean High School track teams plan to visit Tortola this weekend for another regional meet. The teams use these competitions as tune-ups for the Poly Relays, which will attract more than 40 teams from across the Caribbean and will be held March 11 in San German, Puerto Rico.
